School of Indian Legal Thought was established in 1989 with the major objectives of producing a vibrant cadre of lawyers, equipped with professional competence and good law teachers and legal researchers, providing specialized courses in emerging and important areas of law for post graduate studies and research and providing a special focus on the contribution of Indian thought in the field of law and jurisprudence as part of the general stream of legal education.The school campus is located at Suryakalady Hills, Nattasserry which is 5km away from Kottayam.

Admission Details
For BA LLB
A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary or Plus Two examination recognized by the Mahatma Gandhi University or any other examination recognized as equivalent there to and has secured not less than fifty percent of the marks in the aggregate in such examinations shall be eligible to be considered for admission.The candidate should be below twenty years of age as on Ist July of the year concerned.There will be one year relaxation in the case of SC/ST candidates.Admission to the course will be made from the rank-list prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the entrance test conducted by the School.
For LLB Hons
A candidate seeking admission should be a graduate of Mahatma Gandhi University or any other University recognized as equivalent there to by the Mahatma Gandhi University. The minimum marks required are not less than fifty percent in the aggregate. For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates the minimum marks required is forty-five percent in the aggregate.The Candidate should be below twenty five years of age as on 1st July of the year concerned. There will be one year relaxation in the case of SC/ST candidates.Admission in the course will be made from the rank list prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in an Entrance Test conducted by the School.
For LLM
A candidate who has passed the LL.B Examination of the Mahatma Gandhi University, or of any other University recognized as equivalent thereto and has secured not less than 55% of the marks in the aggregate shall be eligible to be considered for admission. For SC/ST candidates, the minimum marks required is 50% in the aggregate.Admission to the course shall be made on the basis of the performance at the qualifying examination and the result of an admission test.
