Government Engineering College,Thrissur is one of the best and popular technical education institute in Kerala which was established in 1957. It is Affiliated to University of Calicut. The second oldest engineering college established in Kerala and the first engineering college to be established after the formation of Kerala State. College Campus is scattered around an area of 75 acres and is located at Ramavarmapuram 5kms from Thrissur.Besides the regular B-Tech courses, college also offers a Post-graduate Course in Computer Applications (MCA),and Post graduate program-mes in various subjects. Government Engineering College Thrissur Facilitates

• Central Library: The library has more than 60,000 books and back volume Journals. The Central library will remain open from 10 AM to 5 PM on all working days. For part time students the function on Wednesdays is up to 6 PM.
• Centralized Computing Facility :There is a centralized computer center for the staff and students of the college. The objective of this center is to give facilities like browsing, document preparation, taking printouts etc.
• Hostel: The college has four Hostel Blocks for Men and two Hostel Blocks for women students with capacity 690 and 160. There is provision for vegetarian and non- vegetarian messes.
• Transport:There are 4 Buses including one donated by the College PTA and a Jeep are on service to reduce the transport problems of students and staff.
• Canteen: A full-fledged canteen is functioning within the campus for convenience of the staff and students.
• Post Office and Bank: ATM facility is also available and working in campus between 9.00 am and 5.00pm.
• Dispensary: A dispensary is located near the Hostel and It provide services are to the students ,staff and family.
• Co-operative Society: The society supplies text books, practical manuals, note books, laboratory records, drawing instruments, surveying instruments and other stationary articles needed for the students, staff and other Government institutions, with discount rates.

Admission Details

For B.tech Course
A pass in the Higher Secondary Examination of the University in Kerala State or Examinations considered equivalent there to with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects with a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics only and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics Chemistry put together.

B.tech Part Time Course
Candidates shall be Indian Nationals, either natives of Kerala State or employed in Kerala State. Candidates shall possess the following qualifications:
A. A pass in the Diploma Examination in Engineering after under going regular institutional course of 3 years.
B. Candidates should be in employment in the Engineering profession in
1. Government service
2. Semi-Government/Companies/Corporations and Board
3. Private companies registered under Companies Act or
4. Private (aided) Polytechnics and Private (aided) Engineering Colleges in the State. They should be in professional employment for at least two years at the time of submitting the application after passing the Diploma Examination.Training of any kind will not be taken in lieu of experience.

M.Tech Course
Pass in B. Tech. Degree Examination or equivalent examination recognized by the University of Calicut in the respective branch of study. Admission is normally through GATE and such candidates are eligible for the award of the Government of India Scholarship of Rs.8,000/- per month.

For MCA

Selection of candidates to all seats will be made on the basis of the rank obtained in the Entrance Test subject to rules. Following are the eligibility criteria-

• BCA, B.Sc in Computer Science / IT / Electronics.
• B.Tech with 50% aggregate all semesters put together.
• B.Sc / B Com or Equivalent with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the optional subjects, 50% marks in aggregate and 60% marks in optional. 5% relaxation in marks for SEBC candidates and pass minimum for SC/ST students as per government rules.

Government Engineering College Thrissur Location and Development

It is located at Ramavarmapuram, 5kms from Thrissur.The college was initially located at the Maharaja Technological Institute Chembukkavu campus in 1957. The college shifted to its present campus in October 1960. The campus is spread over an area of 120 acres and is located at Ramavarmapuram which is 5 km from the heart of Thrissur town and 6 km from Thrissur Railway station.
