Government Engineering College in Idukki

TheGovernment Engineering College, Idukki (GECI) was established in 2000 under the Directorate of Technical Education Government of Kerala. The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. The education system followed in the college enables the students To achieve academic success as well as develop interpersonal skills. Each student is assigned to a staff ad-visor from the concerned department who guides the students in curricular and extracurricular activities during the period of study in the college.

• Hostels– The College has five main Hostels – The Men’s Hostel-I, The Men’s Hostel-II (Near SBT), Ladies Hostel, Staff Hostel and C7 Hostel.
• Co-operative Society– The co-operative society store caters to the needs of the students and employees of this college. Essential stationery, textbooks etc are available in the store.
• Staff Club– Staff Club enthusiastically co-ordinates activities to create a cordial and motivating work atmosphere in the college with a motto of making college a home away from home.

• Internet and Campus Connectivity -GECI has a 2 Mbps broadband internet connection, along with 10 more 512 Mbps connections under National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technologies (NMEICT) program.

The Government Engineering College, Idukki (GECI) is located in the beautiful high range district of Kerala known for its mountainous hills And dense forests near state highway 33 from Thodupuzha to Kattapana. Painavu is 120 km from Cochin and 130 km from Kottayam and is connected by bus to all parts of the state. The scenic 25-acre (100,000)campus is located at Kuyilimala, Painavu, the headquarters of the Idukki district.The cool and picturesque environs of the Idukki wildlife sanctuary located in close proximity to the campus is ideal for the pursuit of higher education.
