NSS College of Engineering in Palakkad

NSS College of Engineering was established in 1960 with three branches during the second Five -Year plan with the assistance of Central and State Government under the Grand in -Aid scheme. Currently it is one of the most reputed, premier Engineering educational institutions in Kerala that is managed by Nair Service Society.It is affiliated to the University of Calicut.At present, the institution offers B-TECH degree courses in six branches and M-TECH degree course in Communication engineering.Campus is located at Akathethara spread over 125 acres. College is well connected by road, rail and air to all national and international destinations.

The College having started with three branches of Engineering Civil, Mechanical and Electrical & Electronics Engineering,made long strides with the introduction of Instrumentation & Control Engineering course in 1980.Electronics & Communication Engineering was developed in 1986 and Computer Science Engineering was developed in 1999. • Library: The Library System contain Central Library with 6 Department that support Teaching and Research Program-me. The Central Library has been started functional since 1965. It is located in a separate building with An area of 4000 sq.m. The Library has a Computerized Library Information System, Reprographic center and Internet Browsing Center. It has around 62,846books, reports, standards and back volumes of journals books.
  Working hours of the library: 10 A.M to5 P.M
• Hostels: There are 3 hostel blocks for men and 1hostel Block for women .The hostel capacity is 483 and 172 respectively. Hostel rooms are spacious, which provides comfortable environment.
  There is provision for Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian food in the mess. Each hostel is provided with a television, water cooler and kit for indoor games.The cordiality between the seniors and the juniors lay the foundation for a conducive and friendly atmosphere. All major festivals are celebrated in the hostel with great enthusiasm.
• College Bus: In College there are having 2 buses for transportation of students and staff.Buses are operated regularly on all working days of the college with convenient timings. The Bus Facility is monitored by the College Bus Committee.Network
• Computer Center: The center provides the latest computer and browsing facilities. Apart from that there are individual computer centers for each department. Each system is provided with dual operating system.

• College canteen: It is located at a easily accessible area to all departments of The Variety of refreshments and meals available at the college canteen at affordable rates.
• Auditorium: College has a well furnished auditorium, located in the main block. It has a seating capacity of 800 audiences. The auditoriums are equipped with latest public addressing, LCD projectors and comfortable seats.
• Seminar Halls: The college has 1 main Seminar Hall and 5 departmental seminar halls. Each has a seating capacity of 100 people.
• Sports & Games: There is an Outdoor Stadium with 400 m tracks for Athletics Volley ball Court, Basket ball Court, Ball badminton and Tennis courts are also available. There is an indoor court for Shuttle Badminton and Table Tennis. Also, there is a Gymnasium with Multi GYM of 16 stations and other weight lifting facilities.

Admission Details

B-Tech : Mode of admission

• 50% marks in the qualifying examination
• Pass in the entrance test conducted by Commissioner of Entrance Examination,Kerala.
• The Commission fills up 85% of the seats on the basis of merit and the Management fills up 15 % from the Rank list of the Engineering Entrance examinations.

M-Tech: Mode of admission

• 55% marks in B.Tech degree examination and For SC/ST, pass in B.Tech degree is enough or equivalent examination recognized by the university of calicut in the respective branch of study.
• Admission is normally through GATE and such candidates are eligible for the award of the Government of India scholarship of Rs 8,000/- per month.
