The Kelappaji College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology is only one Engineering Agricultural College in Kerala . The college is named after the veteran freedom fighter and well known social reformer Sri.K.Kelappan, who is popularly known as 'Kerala Gandhi'. The college is affiliated to the faculty of Agricultural Engineering of Kerala Agricultural University. B-Tech and M-Tech Agricultural Engineering courses were started in 1985 and B-Tech in Food Engineering was started in the year 2011.

The 40 hectare KCAET campus is located in Tavanur village on the southern bank of Bharathapuzha. Tavanur village in Malappuram district lies 8 kilometres west of Kuttippuram Railway Station and 12 kilometres north of Ponnani. The campus is situated on a hill commanding an enchanting view of the natural scenery around.
