Admission Details
Under Graduate
IIST currently offers B.Tech programmes in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics and Physical Sciences.The total number of seats for the undergraduate programmes in IIST is 156.
- B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering: 60 seats
- B.Tech. in Avionics: 60 seats
- B.Tech. in Physical Sciences: 36 seats
Admission to Under Graduate programme is done through ISAT entrance exams that is held every year.ISAT is an All India Admission Test conducted by IIST in various centers across India. ISAT is open to all eligible students who have completed the prescribed qualifying examination under the (10+2) pattern from a recognized board or pr-university. Question Paper framed for ISAT is of objective type and consist of three separate sections on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Post Doctrol
Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates for admission to the Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) Programme starting in February 2012 in the areas of Avionics, Physics, Chemistry and Earth and Space Sciences.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD in the relevant area and first class or equivalent at the Masters level.
Age Limit: Applicant should be below 32 years as on 15th January 2012. Age relaxation applicable as per Govt. Rules. PhD Degree award date should be after 15th January 2007.
Nationality: Applicant should be an Indian citizen.

- Hostels– These are located in a peaceful part of the IIST campus, with proximity to canteens, cafe, gymnasium and the medical centre. Each room in the hostels is furnished with cots, mattresses, study-tables, chairs, wardrobe-cabinets and bookshelves, enabling comfortable stay and study.WiFi is also provided in hostels enabling High-Speed Access to the Internet, Digital Library and other Digital Learning Resources.
- Medical Facility– IIST has a well experienced medical team with a Chief Medical Consultant, a Medical Officer and paramedical staff. Medical facility are provided on all working days.A clinic has been established in the campus with sufficient medicines and equipment to take care of the day medical needs.
- Library– Library contains a well equipped collection of books, journals and e-resources from all major subject areas.The book collection has prominent text books, supplementary reading materials and reference books. The operations of the library are fully computerized and the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) is accessible from anywhere in the campus on 24X7 basis.

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology Location and Development
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology is located in Trivandrum capital of Kerala . The campus is located in Valiamala, which is 18 kilometers from Trivandrum Central Railway Station and 30 Kilometers from the Airport. It is an Eco-friendly campus located near LPSC of ISRO.The campus have an extension of facilities at the Upper Sanatorium, in the picturesque Ponmudi Hills, where the Institute proposes to construct an observatory, associated space science laboratory, space science complex and a guest house in 20 acres area.
The new campus have a striking similarity with the UC Berkeley, as the campus in the plains look upward to the laboratories and observatories in the Arboretum situated in the Ponmudi hills.
