The College of Agriculture, Vellayani was established in May, 1955 and continues as the Centre of undergraduate and Post Graduate education. The institution was set up in the palace building belonging to the royal family of erstwhile Travancore-Cochin State.CoA, along with two other campuses at Vellanikkara and Pilicode, under the Faculty of Agriculture has been instrumental in promoting quality education and skill training for agricultural graduates and farmers in Kerala. The College of Agriculture, Vellayani has now become the nerve centre of agricultural research and education in the Southern State.

Admission Details
Admissions to academic programmes of KAU is through entrance examinations conducted by CEE of the Government of Kerala/ICAR. Master’s students are admitted through the entrance test conducted by the University or from ICAR quota. The doctoral students are admitted considering their academic merit, the quality of thesis work proposed, work experience, publications and personal interview. Apart from students coming to the University from all-over the state, about 15% of the KAU students at any time are from outside the state, including Lakshadweep and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
College of Agriculture Vellayani Location and Development
College of Agriculture is located approximately 12 Km South West of Thiruvananthapuram central railway station. The state transport corporation operates bus services from the East Fort city bus depot and the Central bus station depot to College of Agriculture, Vellayani at regular intervals through the day.
