Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kollam which was started on 1-12-1994is a higher secondary school Co-Educational School under the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, situated in Kottarakkara, Kollam.. The Vidyalaya is located at Trikkannamangal, four kilometers away from Kottarakara, where ‘Kathakali’, the traditional art form of Kerala originated. The school impart education in English Medium and is affiliated to CBSE.All the students have to stay boarding in the school. Entire students in the school is divided under four sections or houses namely Aravalli, Nilgiri, Sivalik and Udayagiri.
Started in 1994, the school have contributed significantly to the education of the district, especially to the students from rural areas. Seven standards from VI to XII have been provided. This Central Government aided school offers free education for all the students who gets admission through its entrance test.
