CUSAT CAT 2015 Examinations - Common Admission Test are conducted every year for admission to various UG and PG courses for Cochin University of Science and Technology.For First Degree Programmes (B.Tech. and 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics), the CAT will be conducted on All-India basis with test centres in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jamshedpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Ranchi,Varanasi, Kota, Dubai and in all the district head quarters of Kerala. For all other programmes except 3 year LLB/Lateral entry programmes, the test will be conducted at specified district head quarters within the state of Kerala only. Eligibility Criteria

For A , B and C Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala with mathematics,physics and chemistry as optional subjects or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto securing a minimum of 50% marks in mathematics and 50% marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry put together .
For D (B.Tech. in Instrumentation Technology) Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala with mathematics,
physics and chemistry as optional subjects or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto securing a minimum of 60% marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry put together, with at least 55% in mathematics separately.
For E ( B.Tech. in Marine Engg. )
  • Pass in plus-two or equivalent examination with physics, chemistry,mathematics and english as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60% marks & minimum 50% for mathematics and should have obtained 50% marks in english at 10th or 12th standards. This is applicable to the SC/ST candidates also.
  • Vocational/Diploma students are not eligible to apply.
  • The Maximum age limit prescribed is 25 years as on 1st September of the year of admission.
  • Eligibility for admission will be based on directions from the DG Shipping(Govt. of India)
For F (B.Tech. in Naval Architecture & Ship Building)- Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto with a First Class securing a minimum of 50% marks in mathematics as well as for mathematics, physics and chemistry put together
For G (5 Year B.B.A LL.B. (Hons.) Pass in Plus 2 examination with 60% marks in Science / Commerce group or 55% marks in Arts / Humanities AND Should not have completed 20 years of age on July 1st of the year of admission. 22 years in the case of SC / ST and OBC candidates.
For H(5 Year B.Com.LL.B (Hons) Pass in Plus 2 examination with 60% marks in Science group or 55% marks in Commerce / Arts / Humanities AND Should not have completed 20 years of age in July 1st of the year of admission. 22 years in the case of SC / ST and OBC candidates
POST GRADUATE PROGRAMMES
3 year LLB. Passing Degree with not less than 40% marks in the aggragate (35% for SC/ST Cantidate)Permanant employment in any Central/State undertakings or any Public Sector organisations
LL.M. Bachelor’s degree in Law with at least 45% marks
M.A. Hindi Language and Literature B.A./B.Sc. degree with Hindi as a subject of study with at least 45% marks in Hindi.

  • Bachelors degree in any subject with 50% marks in aggregate.
  • 50% of the seats are reserved for candidates having 3 years of supervisory/ executive experience after taking the degree
M.B.A.(Travel & Tourism) Bachelor’s degree in any subject with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
M.B.A.(International Business) Bachelor’s degree in any discipline recognized by the University with 50% marks in aggregate.
M.A. Applied Economics Bachelor’s degree in Economics with 55% marks in Part III (Economics and Subsidiaries) or 60% marks with B.Com., BBA, BBM with Economics as one of the subject or B.Sc. Mathematics or Statistics with 65% marks.
M.C.A. Any graduate with mathematics as one of the main or subsidiary subjects or graduate in Electronics/Computer Science/Computer Applications/Engg./Technology with aggregate 55% marks in all subjects other than Languages and Humanities.
M.Sc. Applied Chemistry B.Sc. degree with Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry/Environmental Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/ Petrochemicals (main), with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary subjects with at least 55% marks in the main subject.
M. Sc. Biotechnology Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Life Sciences including Agricultural and Medical Science or Chemical Science or Chemical Engg. with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.
M.Sc Degree in Biopolymer Science B.Sc degree with Chemistry as one of the main or subsidiary subjects The candidate should have passed the qualifying examination with a minimum of 50% marks in the main and subsidiary subjects taken together. The course is conducted by CIPET (Centre for Bio-Polymer Science & Technology) in collaboration with CUSAT

M. Tech. Marine Biotechnology B. Tech/ BE in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology,Leather Biotechnology, Chemistry/Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, B.Pharma.., Chemical Technology or M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Marine Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany/ Zoology/Biochemistry, Microbiology/Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics, Marine Biology/Aquatic Biology and Fisheries/Environmental Biotechnology/Mariculture with 60% marks or equivalent CGPA from any recognized Indian or Foreign University. For admission to M.Tech. Marine Biotechnology GATE score is not considered. Selection of candidates is done by JNU on behalf of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India
M. Tech. Ocean Technology

M. Tech. Opto-Electronics & Laser Technology
  • Masters degree in Physics/Electronics/Photonics/B.Tech. or B.E. Degree in Electronics and Communication Engg./Electronics Engg./Electrical Engg./Electrical and Electronics Engg. with a First Class (60%) from any recognized University or Institution.
  • A valid GATE score in the concerned branch of study
M. Tech. Polymer Technology
  • B.Tech. or equivalent degree/AMIE in Polymer Science and Rubber Technology/ Chemical Engg. / Technology or M.Sc. Polymer Chemistry/M.Sc. Chemistry with Polymer Chemistry as specialisation with a first class (60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution.
  • A valid GATE score
M. Tech. Civil Engineering with specialization in Geotechnical Engineering
  • Should have passed B.E/B.Tech Degree Examination in the respective/allied branch or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 in 10 point scale

M. Tech Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Thermal Engineering

  • A valid GATE score in Civil Engineering. In the absence of GATE qualified candidates non GATEcandidates can be admitted on the basis of a Departmental Admission Test (DAT)
Part Time M.Tech. in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical and Electrical with specialization in Power Electronics
  • Should have passed B.Tech/B.Sc. Engg. Degree Examination in the respective branch with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • Candidates who have passed sections A and B examinations in respective/allied branches conducted by Institution of Engineer’s (India), Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers and Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers are also eligible for admission if they have an Engineering Diploma or a basic degree in Science.
  • Should have a minimum of 2 years experience in the concerned field after acquiring qualifying degree. This may be relaxed if sufficient number of candidates with the minimum prescribed experience is not available.
  • Open seats will be allotted on the basis of the score in Departmental Admission Test, marks obtained in the qualifying examination and experience.
Admission Through DAT
M. A. Translation (German/Russian) Bachelor’s degree of any University recognized by CUSAT and Diploma level knowledge in the language concerned.
M. Phil. PROGRAMMES (FULL-TIME) Candidates seeking admission to the Master of Philosophy degree course should have passed a Master’s degree examination in the concerned subject of any of the Universities approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or an examination accepted by the Academic Council as equivalent thereto and have obtained a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (or equivalent grade) in the examination.
M. Phil. Chemistry, Commerce, Hindi, Physics and Mathematics. Master’s degree in the concerned subject with at least 55% marks.
M. Phil. Applied Economics Pass in Masters degree examination in the subject concerned of the any of the Universities approved by the UGC or an examination accepted by the Academic Council as equivalent thereto and have obtained a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (or equivalent grade) in the examination
M. Phil. Marine Chemistry Master’s Degree in Hydrochemistry, Chemistry or any other branch of Chemistry with a
minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade.

M. Phil. Life Sciences Master’s degree in any branch of Life Sciences with 60% marks
Ph.D programmes Ph.D programmes are offered in all the teaching Departments/Schools and recognized
Institutions of the University. Candidates are advised to ascertain the areas of research
and the availability of vacancies from the Departments/Schools or Recognized Institutions
before-hand. Candidates intending to do research in the Recognized Institutions of the
University are to obtain application forms from the University Departments/Schools
dealing with the discipline of their choice.
Admission Through LET( B.Tech. in Civil Engg., Computer Science & Engg., Electrical & Electronics Engg.,Electronics & Communication Engg., Information Technology, Instrumentation Technology, Mechanical Engg., Polymer Science & Engineering and Safety & Fire Engg.)
Eligibility – Any three year Diploma in Engineering/Technology awarded by the Board of Technical Education recognized by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala with not less than 60% marks. The maximum age prescribed is 25 years as on 1st July 2013.

CUSAT Registeration Information

  • The online application submission is a two-stage process.
  • In the first stage the candidate should furnish correctly all details required in the online registration form and upload his/her recent passport size(color) photograph (150 x 200 pixels) and signature (250 x 85 pixels)
  • Take printout of the chalan form along with the instructions page and make payment in the bank. (Make sure that the journal number is correctly entered by the bank in the space provided in the chalan form before leaving the bank). Relogin to the CUSAT website using his/her registration number and date of birth and enter the payment details such as the journal number, bank name, branch name, code and date. Finally press the SUBMIT button to get your application print out which can be retained by the candidate.
  • Candidates are requested to check the status ten days after the final submission of the application.
